Foursquare? What is that?

At first, I was thinking to myself what’s the point? Everyone will know where you are and there could even be some stalker benefiting from this. I am talking about Foursquare. The idea of having to check in on a social media website that requires you to update the “where are you at” status kinda spooked me out. But then, something clicked in me. How cool is it for companies to receive free publicity online and by letting everybody know that you are there? And on top of that, they give you incentives and perks. Now, we are talking! There no doubt about the fact that this is a good opportunity to get a win/ win situation here. What about when you are looking for a place to eat in a new city and you do not know where to go? With the site worldwide attention, it is easy to find what you are looking for no matter where you are in the world and to get legit recommendations. Companies also have a great way to benefit from this by getting good reviews and spreading their brand internationally.
Don’t get me wrong, I do have my bias about the site because there are cautions to take while using it.
As a recommendation, it is always better to only check in popular areas and preferably when you are accompanied by other people. The fact of the matter is that there are freaky people in this world. And it is better to be safe than sorry. However, this shouldnt be a reason to completely dismiss the website. It only mean that you need to be wise. But wisdom doesn’t only apply for this alone, it applies to everything you do.
